Transitioning to college can be challenging for first-year students. We’re proud to say that road is substantially easier for first-year students in the BS in Business and Economics program, though, thanks to the dedicated support of our H.A.W.K.S. (Helping to Advise Willing and Keen Students) Lehigh Mentor Collective volunteers.
Mentors in the H.A.W.K.S. Mentor Collective Program are juniors and seniors in the BS in Business and Economics degree program who have committed to help make our first-year students’ start as smooth as possible.
H.A.W.K.S. are a proud group within the larger Lehigh University initiative called the Lehigh Mentor Collective - an online mentorship program that matches first-year students with and others in the university community to help students set and achieve their goals, both academic and personal. Across Lehigh, the Collective aims to help first-year students meet a range of unique transition challenges by providing them with personalized support from mentors with similar experiences.
All first-year students entering the BS in Business and Economics degree program in the fall will have the option of being matched with a personal mentor based on common academic interests, career goals, life challenges, and experiences. Students can also use the platform’s discussion guides and goal-setting activities to help spark meaningful conversations with their counterparts.
First-year students who opt in to the H.A.W.K.S. Lehigh Mentor Collective will receive an email from their H.A.W.K.S. Peer Mentor before they arrive on campus for orientation. All first-year students are strongly encouraged to opt in to the Lehigh Mentor Collective, so they could meet and benefit from the mentorship of a dedicated H.A.W.K.S. mentor.
Thanks to all our 2019 H.A.W.K.S. Peer Mentor volunteers for their commitment to ensure the newest members of our CBE Community get off to a great start. Thank you, H.A.W.K.S., for your leadership!
