Club Leaders Network at CBE Executive Roundtables

You are here

The College of Business and Economics (CBE) is the proud home to 17 business-oriented clubs for undergraduate students.  CBE clubs are some of the most engaged at the University, thanks in large part to their engaged membership and the strong leadership of their executive boards.

For the past few years, the CBE Undergraduate Programs Office has hosted a CBE Executive Roundtable for club presidents at the start of each semester.  The presidents of all business-related clubs are invited to a luncheon as a group, together with hosts Dean Zalatan and Jamie Pugh, associate director of CBE Undergraduate Programs and director of the CBE Professional Development Program.  The Executive Roundtables give club leaders a forum to share updates, network, and identify potential collaboration opportunities.  Club leaders can also share thoughts about how the CBE Undergraduate Programs Office and other staff offices across Lehigh could help them achieve their club goals.

Outcomes of the Executive Roundtable have ranged from the creation of a CBE Undergraduate Programs Office events calendar to help clubs plan event timing to club leader collaborations that have resulted in larger, more impactful events for CBE students.  Club leaders have also co-sponsored CBE Professional Development Events in collaboration with Jamie Pugh, increasing club visibility and the number of events available to benefit business students.

Associate director Jamie Pugh is quick to highlight the value of networking that started at the Executive Roundtables.  “There have been several powerful collaborations this year,” she explained.  “Some of the more recent have included partnerships between the Marketing and Business Careers in Entertainment (BCEC) clubs to offer their ‘The Business of Entertainment’ event, and the successful Finance and BCEC collaboration that hosted the CFO of Atlantic Records, Lehigh alum John Beddia '94.”

Dean Zalatan added that CBE clubs are vital sources for career connections and experiences to grow our students into professionals.   “Our business club leaders have vision and are incredibly engaged,” she noted.  “I’m continually impressed with their leadership, and so glad that the CBE Executive Roundtable has been a useful forum for them to advance their impact.”
